FishLead Blue Innovation Hub Ltd/Gte is a youth-led, non-profit social enterprise established to bridge capacity, leadership, and knowledge gaps among young people within the African blue economy.

Operating out of Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria, we work across the aquatic food systems value chain to build technical and entrepreneurial capacity, empowering the next generation to drive sustainable regional innovations.

The Challenge & Our Solution
The African aquaculture sector faces severe structural bottlenecks, particularly a deficit in market-ready technical expertise among youth. FishLead Hub mitigates these challenges through our Aquaculture Skills for Impact Programme (ASIP). This curriculum delivers hands-on, climate-smart training in hatchery management, commercial grow-out systems for optimal market-size production, fish health, feed formulation, post-harvest value addition, and agribusiness management to youths, including young women.

Our Integrated Ecosystem
Beyond technical training, we run a pipeline of early-career intervention frameworks:

• The CAPY Outreach Programme: Sparking early interest in the blue economy and modern agribusiness among secondary school students.
• The Campus Chapters Initiative: Serving as localized, peer-led bases within tertiary institutions for students to connect, innovate, and build career readiness.
• Global Mentorship Pathways: Connecting our community with international academic and industry experts through monthly masterclasses and workshops.

A Self-Sustaining Model for Impact

To ensure long-term institutional sustainability, the hub operates a commercial incubation enterprise providing high-quality fish seed, grow-out production, technical consultancy, and farm setup services. Driven by circular economy principles, our enterprise also specializes in Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae production, offering commercial insect-farming training and bio-waste conversion facility setups for farms. This entire commercial ecosystem acts as a real-world business simulator for youth, and 100% of our net profits are funnelled directly back into funding our non-profit programmes and youth seed grants.

Ultimately, FishLead Hub is dedicated to developing a highly skilled, inclusive youth workforce capable of adopting modern, environmentally responsible blue economy methodologies to secure Africa's food future.
